I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Barbara through our affiliation with Nairobi Day School, and her consistent support of Mothers for Equal Education in East Palo Alto. Her life reflects the kind of multi-racial, multi-faith interrelationships this nation desperately needs.

Those of us who knew and loved Barb were immeasurably enriched. Our friendship went back to the 1960s when we worked in Summer Discovery Day Camp, continued through the 70s, and 80s, when she taught me to use the computer I took to China to teach my students to use; we stayed close in the 90s and during the 17 years of the 21st century. I miss her puns, her upbeat take on life, her ability to be inclusive, inquisitive, and to embrace life.
