Mary Ann Dahlberg, a Menlo Park resident for 44 years passed away on March 11, 2021, at the age of 90. Mary, who was born in Berkeley, Ca, graduated as an English major from the University of Washington in Seattle. She returned to California where she worked at the then - Standard Oil Company of California. Moving to the Peninsula, she was an Administrative Assistant at SRI International until her retirement. A lover of nature, Mary enjoyed walking trips. For many years she made an annual pilgrimage to Yosemite National Park. She was fortunate to have experienced two lengthy visits to Europe focused on art and architecture. She considered her greatest blessing to be close friends and her beloved family. Survivors are niece Catherine Curtis of Fairfax, VA; nephews Richard Cheney of New York City and James Cheney of Santa Rosa; a great niece and three great nephews.
Mary was a delightful lady and a great friend for more than 30 years. We met as Laurel Street neighbors back in 1989 and kept in touch up until her last days. Her wonderful doll house, and the vast supply of tiny holiday decorations she would rotate through its rooms throughout the year, were always great fun. I will miss her enthusiastic interest in any and all news, our shared love of books, and our mutual admiration for President Obama. Her generous spirit, kindness, quick wit, and self-deprecating humor were rare and I feel blessed to have known her. Her passing leaves a hole that will not easily be filled. My condolences to her family - she loved you so much and spoke of you often. Goodbye to a very special lady.
Mary was a lovely, classy lady. She loved books, and served as a dedicated volunteer librarian for Little House and Crane Place. Her smile and kindnesses will be missed by all, including my mother, June Muller, of Crane Place.
