I first met Jack and Judy in 1952 when we all worked at Levi Strauss & Co. He was a young man of 24 and I was a kid of 17. Jack always impressed me with the great suits he wore. He the best dressed man in the company and he wore his great smile and beaming personality just as well. He was one of the most kind and decent people that I have ever met. Judy and Jack were a perfectly matched pair!

SO many memories over the span of my entire life! Jack was my Godfather and our families literally grew up together. All the way back to the early 60’s - Every Easter, Christmas, Fourth of July, we were together. Summers in Tahoe, Trips to the Gold Country, The Crosby, tailgating at Stanford games and more…But mostly I remember our weekly dinners. Jack was a gourmet cook who never skimped on butter or sauce. He made the BEST Eggs Bennie! I can hear his laughter in my mind – always laughing and cooking…. Such wonderful memories of the Branner Drive days (playing “Adam 12” on the stairs while Scamp jumped on us) to pool parties at Atherton Avenue (Gucci slobbering all over us). Fourth of July was always a BIG SHOW with the dads competing against each other as to who could bring the biggest array of fireworks (Ken Kidwell usually won). I am so lucky that my Dad and I ran into Jack at The Goose a few months back. I had no idea that would be my last visit and I will cherish that memory the most. RIP “First Class Jack”. You were loved by so many and will be missed by all.
When I was too young to drink, Jack taught me my first adult drink order: "Scotch and Soda, Bitters and a Twist" Cheers to you Jack !
There are way to many memories to list. "First Class Jack" sums it up. He was a first class gentleman who taught me the way to enjoy the finer things in life. He was truly one of the most inspirational persons in my life. Had many a SSBT with him.I still tell his "Uncle Charley" jokes. RHIP Jack.
