Lasting Memories
Georgia "Dean" Evans
1941-Sept. 24, 2014
Encinitas, California
Georgia Trudean "Dean" Evans peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord in Encinitas, California, following several years of declining health. She was a precious gift to all who knew her.
Born Georgia Trudean Richmond in 1941 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and known as Dean, she was the daughter of Eileen (Scholes) and George Richmond.
Dean graduated from Lord Byng High School in Vancouver, went on to obtain her B.A. from the University of British Columbia, and taught elementary school for several years.
She met her husband, Robert Kenneth "Bob" Evans, M.D., in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they were married in 1965 at Granville Chapel. After years in Vancouver and the East Coast of the U.S., they settled in California, where they lived in Menlo Park for two years, and Saratoga for 35 years. There, Dean was actively involved with her four children and community.
Dean was known as a kind, warm, caring, and thoughtful person with great insight; her faith was an important part of her life. She treasured her family and the many friends she loved and enjoyed, several of whom became "sisters" to her.
She had a gracious and loving way about her, even until the end. A consummate hostess, hospitality came naturally, and those who were blessed to know her always felt comfortable in her presence and home.
She enjoyed traveling and photography. Dean also enjoyed flowers, design, knitting, needlepoint, and children. In her later years, it seemed as if she was always knitting a baby blanket for someone. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend and she will be sorely missed by many. Several have expressed gratitude for the legacy she has left.
Dean is survived by Bob, her beloved husband of 49 years and her loving family: daughter Meghan T. Sweet, son-in-law Scott of Portola Valley, CA; son Robert K. Evans, Jr of Scottsdale, AZ; son Cary D. E. Evans, daughter-in-law Kim of Encinitas, CA; daughter Stephanie H. Wilde, son-in-law Jon of Menifee, CA; precious grandchildren Mia, Wyatt and Truett Evans; sister Sharon Williams, brother-in-law Brian; nephews Stuart and Scott Williams; cousins Roberta Hewat, Diana Graeber, and Bruce Richmond.
