Floyd Sylvan Kessler was born on July 25, 1923 in McKeeesport, Pennsylvania and passed away on March 3, 2026 in Los Altos, California. He was 102.
He attended George Washington University in Washington, DC taking courses in the Department of Engineering.
Floyd married Barbara Goodman on December 28, 1952 in Washington, DC They moved to California and eventually settled in Palo Alto in 1958.
Floyd's career began working for the Stromberg-Carlson company as Engineer to the Military in the Electronic Division in the Rochester, NY office and then Chief Engineering Draftsman in the San Diego office. In 1958, Floyd landed a job at Lockheed Missiles & Space Company in Sunnyvale working as a Senior staff Engineer. He spent the rest of his working career at Lockheed and retired on May 31, 1990.
He was the President of F.Kessler, Inc. a bicycle importing and distributing business of high quality 10 speed bicycles from Belgium. Floyd was an avid bicyclist and rode well into his 80's. Floyd was an active member of the local Peugeot Club. He pursued photography as a hobby and enjoyed taking pictures of family, and his vacation travels with his wife.
Floyd is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Kessler in 2023. He is survived by his three children, Susan Kessler (Joe Theisen) of Napa, CA, Alan Kessler (Lori Rucker) of Austin Texas, Lori Hutchins-Kessler (Craig Hutchins) of Citrus Heights, CA and grandchildren, Dylan, Jacob, and Rachel.
