David Lee Lotz, 88, a 37-year resident of Menlo Park, passed away peacefully in sleep, October 20, 2016, in Fairfield, CA.

He graduated from San Jose State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1946 and continued his education at San Jose State University, receiving his Masters of Arts degree in 1958.

He taught for the Southern Humboldt Unified school district for 3 years before moving to Menlo Park in 1953, teaching for the Menlo Park City School District for 35 years.

He taught 4th -8th grades at Encinal Middle School and Oak Knoll Elementary School, retiring in 1988.

His wife of 47 years, Roberta Nunn Lotz, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his five children, Robert (Kathy) Lotz, Patricia (Tom) Walsh, Carolyn (Eric) Jensen, Barbara (Roger) Martinez and Richard (Amy) Lotz, his 11 grandchildren Pamela, Elizabeth, Zach, T.J., Aaron, Josh, Desiree, Chelsea, Coleen, Brandon and Meagan, 5 great-grandchildren, his oldest brother Cyril and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Joe.

A Celebration of life will be held Sunday,December 11th at the home of his youngest daughter and a private graveside service will be held Monday, December 12th.

Thank you for posting the remembrance for Mr. Lotz. I also had Mr. Lotz for my fifth grade teacher in 1964 at Encinal School and remember him making us laugh and always being interested in his students. My condolences to his family.

I am so glad I saw this post. I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Lotz was my 5th grade teacher at Encinal School and he was always so nice and helpful and I have always remembered him with fondness. Know that this now 57 year old grandmother enjoyed having him as my teacher, all those years ago. With Sympathy, Joni C. Henderson
