Daniel Adam Esquivel, 24, of Palo Alto, known to his family and friends as Danny, passed away at Stanford Hospital on March 28, 2015, from injuries resulting from a senseless act of violence.

He is survived by his parents, Blanca and Marc Reyes of Palo Alto, and David Esquivel of Sunnyvale; four brothers; four sisters; both maternal and paternal grandparents; paternal great-grandmother; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He shared the same birthdate as his paternal grandfather. Danny loved his family. He was a great son and a wonderful brother to his siblings. He helped care for his younger siblings.

Danny grew up in Palo Alto and was a graduate of Palo Alto High School. He had a great love and passion for working with kids, baseball and music. Since a very young age, he was a big time Miami (Florida) Marlins fan. His family held a tribute outing to a Giants vs. Marlins game in his memory.

Danny enjoyed coaching his younger brothers' baseball teams. He loved working with kids, especially as a summer camp leader for the YMCA. He enjoyed working with the kids from the East Palo Alto YMCA. His family is working with the East Palo Alto YMCA to fund a full summer camp scholarship in his memory.

Danny spent countless hours writing music lyrics and poems leaving many inspiring words for his loved ones. He was inspired and motivated to use his music to reach the youth and hoped to one day lead a youth ministry that would draw in troubled youth. He truly believed that he could have others learn from his own mistakes and make a difference in other's lives. He would always tell his mother, whom he was extremely close to, "They won't listen unless you live it. You must've lived it to preach it." Danny was a very spiritual person with a strong faith. He had come to have a close relationship with the Lord. He had accepted Jesus in his life. He believed he had been given a second chance in life and would use this second chance to draw others closer to his savior Jesus Christ. He expressed this in many of his lyrics and poems.

Services were held on April 2, 2015, in Sunnyvale, California which consisted of an overpouring amount of love and support from over 500 attendees.

Family and friends have been left broken hearted and miss him dearly. His smile and presence is missed. He is remembered as a loving and caring person with a big heart especially for the less fortunate.

He may be physically gone but his spirit lives on through the lives of his loved ones. He leaves a huge impact in the lives of many that knew him.
