Sheila Foster Wyatt
Jan. 7, 1942-March 23, 2025
Palo Alto, California

It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Foster Wyatt announces her passing on March 23, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Sheila was born to Russell and Nellie Foster on January 7, 1942 in Mankato, Minnesota. The oldest of five siblings, she completed her bachelor’s degree in sociology at Marquette University. From there, she blazed a trail from the Midwest to San Francisco, where she met Dr. Thomas Wyatt, whom she married in 1965. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Peninsula, where they raised their two children, Kelly and Michael.

With her keen eye, artistic sensibilities and great flair, Sheila filled her family’s home with beauty. An accomplished artist, gardener and life-long student, she took great joy in learning, creating and sharing the things she loved with the people she loved. Her capacity to notice and appreciate the simple moments in life was profound. From savoring the beauty of nature to relishing her favorite pecan pie to reading to her children and grandchildren, she found and shared a great delight in life.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Tom; their children, Kelly (Duncan) Atkinson and Mike (Gretchen) Wyatt and grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan and Amy Wyatt; sisters Nancy Foster and Mary Jane (Mark) Edleson; and extended family and friends across California, Oregon, Minnesota, Alaska, New York, Singapore, Indonesia and New Zealand.

We feel and celebrate her sweetness, creativity and joy in the spring air.

The family wishes to thank Stanford Hospital, Vi Skilled Nursing, Mission Hospice and her doctors for their support and kindness.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Peninsula Open Space Trust, Allied Arts Guild or Save the Redwoods.
