Paul B. Martin, a general contractor specializing in luxury homes, died Feb. 28 at his Atherton home, following a long illness.

Born in 1922 in the Chicago suburb of Batavia, he attended Batavia High School and Marmion Military Academy. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he played baseball, basketball and football, and graduated with the class of 1948.

During World War II, Mr. Martin flew Corsairs as a carrier pilot in the U.S. Navy. After the war, Mr. Martin and his brother Robert moved to Miami, Florida, and founded Martin Brothers Construction Co., specializing in luxury homes. He was a past president of the Florida National Association of Home Builders. In 1967, Mr. Martin moved to California and formed Paul B. Martin & Associates, General Contractors.

Mr. Martin was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, and a member of both the Palo Alto Club and the Menlo Circus Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children Paul H. Martin of San Diego, Daryl Barrett of Atlanta, Lisa Marsh of Menlo Park, Leslie Dezendorf of Durango, Colorado, Jonathan Hunter of Hawaii, and Amy Hunter of New York City; 12 grandchildren; and his siblings Helen and Robert.
