Noreen Eldredge passed away July 28, 2023, at the age of 98, in South Jordan, Utah. Noreen was born in Logan, Utah in April 1925, to Delmar and Mabel Tingey. Education was important to Noreen, and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry & Biology from Utah State University. She was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, and graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1946. She received a scholarship and fellowship to Stanford University where she earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1951.

Services will be held August 12th at 10:00 a.m. PDT in Sandy, Utah and will be broadcast at http://noreen.eldredge.us . Interment will be in the Logan Utah Cemetery.

Noreen met her husband, Arnold L. Eldredge, while an undergraduate in Utah. They both attended and graduated from Stanford University. They were married in the Logan LDS temple in June 1948. While at Stanford, Noreen was a member of Iota Sigma Pi. In 1950, the couple purchased property and built a home in Woodside, CA, where she lived for 63 years. Noreen loved her home with its views of the redwood forest and Bay Area. The couple raised three children: Candyce McOmber (Gail) of Sandy, Utah; Deric Eldredge (Kathy) of West Jordan, Utah; and Delmar Eldredge (Jan) of Livermore, Calif. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and a sister, Elaine Tingey Tueller (Ben) of Ogden, Utah. Her husband, Arnold Eldredge, and sister, Joan Tingey Essig, preceded her in death.

Noreen was a Research Associate at Stanford University for many years. She later had her own company, NT Biochemical Services Inc. She consulted for a startup medical diagnostic company, MAST Immunosystems Inc., in Mountain View, CA. The company developed and marketed a blood test for the simultaneous determination of allergens. Noreen later served in a managerial capacity for the company in Product Support and Research, until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the American Chemical Society, and Sigma Xi.

Noreen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Menlo Park, CA, along with her husband and children. She had her first teaching assignment in Sunday School when she was just 15 years-old, and taught in various other capacities, including ten years team-teaching 7-year-olds with her husband. She was the ward historian toward the end of her life, and served as a worker in the Oakland temple. Noreen pursued her love of learning as an avid reader to the end and was particularly interested in scientific subjects, historical fiction, and biographies. Noreen was an avid walker, and enjoyed participating in many “pedometer competitions” with family and friends, by virtually mapping famous trekking routes. She logged 8,475 miles in her “travels.”

She enjoyed boating on Lake Shasta and Lake Powell with the family, fishing trips and world travel with her husband. In 2013, she moved back to Utah to be closer to her large extended family where she enjoyed monthly family birthday parties and attending the grand- and great-grand children’s activities as often as possible.

Services will be held August 12th at 10:00 a.m. PDT in Sandy, Utah and will be broadcast at http://noreen.eldredge.us . Interment will be in the Logan Utah Cemetery.
