Mike loved the beauty of nature and spent a great deal of his free time hiking, backpacking, and camping. He was an avid fisherman and reader. He could inform you extensively on most any animal, bird, or reptile about which you might inquire. His devotion as a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants was well known to all who knew him. He loved geology, and collected many beautiful rocks along with exquisite pieces of driftwood which he often gave as gifts. His choice of Fortuna, Ca. as his home of 40+ years placed him in short distance from the redwoods, rivers, and ocean. He had many professions throughout his life including carpentry, tree trimming, bartending, and restaurant management. He was blessed with a wonderful community of friends and his family who loved him dearly. He touched many lives and will be truly missed.

He is survived by his mom, Sabra Driscoll, his siblings; Zoe & Keith Schirmer, Will & Rebecca Driscoll, Barbara Larsen, and Mia Driscoll, along with many nieces & nephews.

Michael passed away of esophageal cancer five months after diagnosis. With the help of his two closest friends, he returned home to Palo Alto where his siblings and mom were able to care for him. His family is very grateful to Mission Hospice and staff from Right At Home who helped support us as he passed away peacefully.
